Subject Access Under the Act
Your main rights to see personal data about yourself, held on computer and on paper, come from the Data Protection Act. The Data Protection Act provides a right of access to personal information about you held by public authorities and private bodies, regardless of the form in which it is held. It also requires those holding personal data about you to explain why they are holding that data and to give you a brief description of the other people or organisations they intend to give your information to and their purposes for using it.
