Pre-School Children

LEAs also have a duty to secure sufficient provision in their area for nursery education. Children that have not had the benefit of any form of pre-school learning experience are at risk of underachievement. Traveller parents with three and four year-old children should contact their LEA or Traveller Education Support Service for details of the facilities and programmes available in their area. Traveller parents should ask about local Sure Start programmes that are designed to help transform the life chances of disadvantaged children under four years of age.
