The Right to Equal Treatment: Race Discrimination
The Race Relations Act 1976 (RRA) covers race discrimination in employment and training, education, housing, the provision of goods, facilities and services, and advertising. In 2001 it was amended by the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 (RRA 2000) to include discrimination by all public bodies.
The RRA applies to England, Wales and Scotland, but not to Northern Ireland, which now has its own legislation. If you believe you have been discriminated against, you must make a complaint either to the Employment Tribunal (for employment-related matters) or to the County Court (for other forms of discrimination).
