Ofcom also replaced the Independent Television Commission, Oftel, the Radio Authority and the Radio communications Agency. Ofcom is now responsible for considering complaints of unjust or unfair treatment and unwarranted infringements of privacy, as well as the portrayal of violence and sex and standards of taste and decency. Complaints to the Commission should be made within a reasonable time after the relevant broadcast (usually three months). Ofcom has the power to require the broadcaster to publish a summary of a complaint and of Ofcom’s findings. If your complaint is not satisfactorily dealt with by the broadcaster, you should write to Ofcom at: The Office of Communications Ofcom Contact Centre Riverside House 2a Southwark Bridge Road London SE1 9HA Tel: 020 7981 3040.
