The Right to Know

This chapter deals with the rights that you have to access information.

The Data Protection Act (DPA) section deals with your rights to access and to correct personal information held about you by both private and public bodies. Look here if you want information on, for example, accessing your health or education records, or correcting information about you held by credit reference agencies.

The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and related legislation section deals with the rights that you have to access all other types of information, where it is held by public bodies. Look here for information on how to enforce your rights under FOIA, a guide to the exemptions, and for how to access environmental information.
