How do I seek legal advice?
Liberty cannot recommend any particular solicitor. There are a number of ways to go about finding a solicitor who could be useful to your case.
The Community Legal Service provide a helpline (0845 608 1122). This will provide you with details of solicitors in your area and give you details of their area of expertise. They also provide a searchable database of legal service providers.
Alternatively you can find advice on choosing a solicitor in your locality on the Choosing and Using a Solicitor page on the Law Society’s website. Just chose your region and the area of law that your problem falls under and the website will help you find an appropriate solicitor.
Your local Citizen’s Advice Bureau (CAB) may be able to help you find an appropriate solicitor in your area. You can find your local CAB here.
You can also find a list of solicitors who are willing to offer free initial advice by email here.
